THE ROLE:

Plant Engineer Manager | Consumer Goods Company | RETAINED

DESCRIPTION:

We have been retained by our global client to identify a Plant Engineer Manager who will be responsible for development and design of equipment, systems layouts, and systems engineering. The Plant Engineer is responsible for improving the plant’s efficiency, upgrading production technology, repairing equipment, reducing manufacturing issues, and identifying and improving bottlenecks. A pillar in our leadership team, the Plant Engineer must have excellent leadership qualities, organized, detail oriented, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Reports to the Director of Manufacturing.

  • This individual should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate with empathy and compassion when appropriate.

  • One should be extremely well organized with an ability to prioritize work with a keen eye for detail.

HIGHLIGHTS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with maintenance, production, and vendors to identify new products and production methods to decrease cost, improve production, and reduce downtime.

  • Create drawings of machine parts and assembly drawings for the use in the manufacturing of parts and machine assembly, floor layouts, elevation, and facility design drawings.

  • Continually monitor company safety procedures and policies with a focus in maintenance and production.

  • Review and interact with maintenance associates to ensure they are properly trained and have the tools and support to grow and develop within the company.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the annual capital budget.

  • Serve as project or task manager for large scale projects with minimal support and complete on-time and in budget.

  • Able to coordinate and effectively interact with department leads and managers to reach company goals and objectives.

  • Responsible for specifying and purchasing new equipment and systems for use in production and building facilities.

  • Supervise and guide the machining, welding, and programming disciplines.

  • Ensure measures are taken to keep equipment working at optimal capacity and reduce operational costs by performing regular preventative and periodic maintenance operations.

  • Write Lockout/Tagout procedures and give maintenance associates classes as required by OSHA and company policies.

  • Oversee and supervise the machine rebuilding and remanufacturing of new/ old machines and equipment within the maintenance shop.

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Packaging, or Electrical Engineering Required.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment required.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in leading teams including but not limited to maintenance, mechanics, welding, programming, and support functions.

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred, not required.

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply corrective actions for continuous improvement opportunities.
